BIAB Nails in Newcastle: The Complete Beginner's Guide

BIAB is one of the most requested treatments in Newcastle right now, and also one of the most misunderstood. If you have seen it all over Instagram and are wondering whether it is right for you, here is everything you need to know before you book.

What is BIAB?

BIAB stands for Builder In A Bottle, a thicker, self-levelling gel that adds strength and structure to your natural nails. Think of it as a protective layer that lets your own nails grow longer without splitting, peeling or snapping. Unlike traditional acrylic extensions, BIAB works with your natural nail rather than sitting on top as a false tip.

BIAB vs gel polish vs acrylics

  • Gel polish is a thin colour coat cured under a lamp. Beautiful finish, lasts two to three weeks, but adds little strength.
  • BIAB is a builder gel: stronger and thicker than gel polish, designed to reinforce the natural nail. Ideal if your nails are weak, bitten or break easily.
  • Acrylics are sculpted extensions for instant length. They look striking but involve more filing and more maintenance.

If your goal is healthy natural nails that finally grow, BIAB is usually the answer.

BIAB on toes: the treatment nobody tells you about

Fingernails get all the attention, but BIAB on toes is quietly brilliant. Toenails take a battering from shoes, the gym and everyday life, and regular polish on toes chips fast. A BIAB overlay on toes gives a glossy, hard-wearing finish that can genuinely last six weeks or more, which is why it has become a favourite for holidays and summer sandals season in Newcastle.

At Jasmine Kaur Nails & Beauty, BIAB on toes is £25, with colour for £3 and design add-ons for £5 if you want more than a clean finish. See the full Newcastle price guide for everything else.

How long does BIAB last?

On fingers, three to four weeks between infills is typical. On toes, often longer because toenails grow more slowly. The better the prep and the aftercare, the longer it lasts, which is exactly why an unrushed one-to-one appointment beats a ten-minute conveyor-belt job.

Does BIAB damage your nails?

Applied and removed properly, no. Damage comes from picking or peeling it off, or from rushed removal with aggressive filing. Always have BIAB soaked or filled professionally. If anything lifts between appointments, leave it alone and message for a fix rather than picking.

Aftercare tips

  • Use cuticle oil daily. It keeps the overlay flexible and stops lifting.
  • Wear gloves for cleaning and washing up.
  • Do not use your nails as tools (we all do it, try not to).
  • Book your infill before week four so the structure stays balanced.
